Increasing access to mental health care.
Supporting innovation in mental health.
The Distinctive Collective, Inc. is a safe space for mental health professionals navigating post-master’s and post-doctoral supervision experiences and the workforce. We offer free trainings designed to assist clinicians in entering the workforce. Essentially, we strive to bridge the gap from academia to practice. We also are committed to increasing effective trauma-informed care for clinicians with limited resources through our Nikki Claudette EMDR Scholarship program.
Training for Student Counselors
Our founder & President, Dr. Powell, began working with student counselors in training at her private practice Distinctive Counseling & Consulting, PLLC in 2021 providing them with an opportunity to train in a private practice setting. Typically, student counselors have been relegated to working for free leading to burnout. The Distinctive Collective, Inc. uses funds to support reimbursing student counselors in training for their work and time investment while silmutaneously providing quality free counseling services to the community. Funds are also used to support training student counselors in using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Treatment (EMDR) increasing the efficacy of their work and ability to provide trauma-informed care.
Nikki Claudette EMDR Scholarship
The Nikki Claudette EMDR Scholarship Application was established in 2021. . To date, there are only three EMDR Certified Therapists in the Corpus Christi, Texas area. The aim of this scholarship is to expand EMDR services in the Coastal Bend and in Texas virtually. Distinctive Collective funds are used to support the training of associate level clinicians in using EMDR. Thank you for being a part of this process.
“Dr. Powell’s passion for counseling is inspiring to observe and the guidance that she provides as my supervisor is such a gift. I have earned a wealth of knowledge from our supervision sessions, the training and lectures that she leads, and observing her counseling sessions.”
